Description of Research

My work focuses on the synthesis, characterization, and determination of the solvent polarity dependence of the photochemical properties (fluorescence quantum yield, lifetime, and singlet oxygen photosensitization quantum yields) of hydroporphyrin (chlorin and bacteriochlorin) arrays. My goal is to tune the photophysical properties of these arrays and establish structure-photochemical property relationship. This relationship will be basis for the development of polarity-activatable fluorophores and singlet oxygen photosensitizers for therapeutic and diagnostic applications.
