Description of Research

Prostate Cancer is the most prevalent non-skin cancer to affect men and it is the second leading cause of cancer related deaths in male. I am studying prostate cancer cells that metastasize to bone, using cell lines derived from different bone metastasis, I am characterizing several cell lines in order to determine the genomic changes and molecular regulation involved in bone metastasis. Specifically, I am focused on understanding the interaction of Runx2 a (transcription factor that plays an important role in osteoblast differentiation) and CD44 a (cell surface receptor protein) in bone metastasis.
