Description of Research

My research is focused on the SOCIAL Study, which examines the effects of COVID-19 on recovery of hip fracture patients and is funded by the National Institute of Aging (NIA) to pursue research on the impact of pandemic-related social isolation on older populations. The study focuses on developing a behavioral activation intervention with remote support coaches to improve nutrition, physical activity and social interactions during the pandemic. In addition, my research focuses on identifying the barriers to anti-osteoporosis treatment with bone-active medications (prescription and over the counter) in historically disadvantaged groups over the age of 65 in the United States.
