My research examines bioecological social factors that influence physiological pain responses and chronic pain disability. I utilize psychophysical testing, psychosocial questionnaires, and large scale epidemiological data methods to examine the combined effects of ethnic discrimination and sexist gender discrimination on the perception of pain, pain inhibition, and pain-related disability among African American women
