Description of Research
Fast Photochemical Oxidation of proteins (FPOP) coupled with mass spectrometry has become an invaluable tool used in structural proteomics to study surface accessibility in proteins. FPOP has been extended to protein labeling in live cells, allowing the study of protein conformations in the complex cell environment. In-cell protein modification can provide insight into ligand induced structural changes or conformational changes accompanying protein complex formation, all within the cellular context. I am currently testing the ability of IC-FPOP to characterize structural changes in various proteins.
