Description of Research
Research shows that ethnic minorities and women consistently report lower pain tolerances, greater sensitivity, and unpleasantness is both experimental and clinical settings. I am exploring the role of perceived discrimination as a type of ‘social injury’ that may be linked to how African American women perceive pain, as well as physiological responses, using psychophysical quantitative sensory testing (QST) methods.
